Energy systems around the world are going through rapid transitions that affect many aspects of our lives. The continuation and acceleration of these shifts will bring important changes to the way we fuel our cars, heat our homes, and power our industries in the coming decades.

Wind and solar accounted for more than half of new power generation capacity additions in recent years. Renewables will continue to penetrate the global energy mix with solar and wind generation expected to increase.

The energy industry includes the primary, secondary and tertiary activities destined for the production, transportation, innovation, management, and sale of energy products and commodities.

Due to their economic impact, energy resources are of vital importance for development and vary in terms of their abundance and variety. Among the most exploited resources are oil, natural gas, and coal, in addition to renewable energy and nuclear. Among energy products, electricity stands out due to its importance.
